At Awa Japanese Bodywork, we offer Japanese manual therapy rooted in the body’s innate reflexes and self-regulating systems—especially the principle of homeostasis.
Rather than trying to “fix” the body from the outside, our approach works with the body’s natural intelligence to guide it gently back into balance.

Our bodies are always working to protect us—like sweating to release heat, or reflexively tightening muscles in response to danger.
These responses are governed by the autonomic nervous system and reflex functions that maintain our health and safety without us even thinking about them.

However, modern life—poor posture, chronic stress, fatigue, and lifestyle imbalances—can interfere with these systems.
As a result, excessive tension, stiffness, and distortion may build up in muscles and joints, sometimes leading to chronic pain or discomfort.
